Emotional vampires lurk around taking advantage of your power to feel, selfishly draining your emotional energy, or using your empathy to manipulate you, engaging in emotional abuse.

On the other hand, empathy can be a super power. It can reveal who needs help most, and how best to help them, if possible. Sometimes, with practice, empathy can even help you steer clear of those who might see you as a target...to protect yourself.
